TRAIL welcomes new members Johns Hopkins University and the Colorado School of Mines.

CRL welcomes new members and branch campuses added since the July 1 start of the fiscal year. Total membership currently stands at 213 institutions in North America and various other global areas.

The South Asia Open Archives (SAOA) is a newly established cooperative effort of nearly 25 libraries from the US and the Subcontinent to make collection of historical research materials on South Asia freely available via the web..

The TRAIL collection now contains more than 61,500 federal technical reports, including over 4.5 million pages of content.

A number of CRL staff members will attend this year’s American Library Association Annual Conference to report on and gather input for CRL programs.

The Law Library Microform Consortium (LLMC) has assembled from various sources and digitized an extensive collection of early laws, codes, and jurisprudence published in Africa from as early as 1698. This work was supported by CRL's partnership with LLMC, which funds digitization of collections of interest to CRL libraries and augments CRL collection strengths in area and international studies.

Ten $750 travel stipends are available for librarians at CRL member institutions to attend New Directions for Libraries, Scholars, and Partnerships:  an International Symposium in Frankfurt, Germany, on October 13, 2017. The stipends are being offered by CIFNAL (the Collaborative Initiative for French Language Collections) and GNARP (German-North American Resources Partnership).

CRL libraries are helping grow and strengthen the print journal holdings maintained under the Global Resources Partnership in Science, Technology and Engineering, to ensure the availability of knowledge resources vital to research and learning.

At its recent Annual Council Meeting, the Board of Directors of the Center for Research Libraries welcomed two new members and elected officers for the upcoming year.

CRL and the Linda Hall Library of Science, Engineering and Technology (LHL) have recently completed the first round of strategic digitization of serials jointly held by the two organizations. 

The Demand Purchase program is a key service through which CRL acquires materials identified by researchers that may be costly, difficult to obtain, or beyond the scope of local collection policies. Patrons at CRL institutions may request materials from CRL in specific categories--foreign dissertations, newspapers, and archival material--with a maximum expenditure of $2,000 per patron per year.

CRL's new focus on digitization of Latin American materials has begun to expose a wealth of resources for cultural and political studies.
