CIFNAL, the Collaborative Initiative for French Language Collections, announces that travel stipends will be made available for CIFNAL institutional members to attend the AIFBD (l’Association Internationale Francophone des Bibliothécaires et Documentalistes) conference "New Challenges for the Preservation of Documentary Heritage" to be held in Sierre, Switzerland on August 16-17, 2017.

The Southeast Asia Materials Project (SEAM) has digitized two Philippine comic book titles from the mid-20th century, Espesyal Komiks and Pilipino Komiks.

A number of CRL staff members will attend this year’s ALA Midwinter Conference in Atlanta, January 20-24, to report on, and gather input for, CRL programs.

CRL “Pivots” to Open Access

At CRL’s 2016 Council of Voting Members meeting the question was posed, “Should more CRL digital resources be Open Access?” Attendees said yes and CRL’s Board of Directors agreed. 

CRL digitization recently reached another milestone: over 25,000 titles digitized from CRL collections are now hosted on CRL's DDS platform, available to researchers at CRL member institutions.

The Slavic and East European Materials Project (SEEMP) recently microfilmed twelve newspaper titles from Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, spanning the years 1988-2010.

MEMP Preserves al-Hadaf

The Middle East Materials Project (MEMP) has microfilmed issues of al-Hadaf from 1979-1989.  This title was published in Arabic in Beirut, Lebanon by the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (P.F.L.P.).

The Collections and Services Policy Committee plays a critical role in reviewing and proposing broad directions for CRL collections strategy.

Three libraries became new voting members of CRL on July 1.
