The Latin American Materials Project (LAMP) supported the digitization of several newspapers and sets of archival material compiled by Memorias de la Patagonia Austral, a project of Universidad Nacional de la Patagonia Austral, Bibliotecas y Archivos. 

This is a friendly reminder that the deadline to submit nominations for the FY21 Purchase Proposal Program is September 30, 2020. This program is one of the ways our research library community collectively builds, stewards, and shares materials to support inspired research and teaching. 

The Technical Report Archive & Image Library (TRAIL) has released its Summer 2020 Newsletter, which provides important program updates.

As a research Library, CRL shares its members’ strong interest in access to contemporary news content to support research and teaching without geographic or linguistic limits.

The Slavic and East European Materials Project (SEEMP) has digitized issues of the Ukrainian Catholic newspaper Ameryka, published in Philadelphia.

CRL and East View Information Services have released the Independent and Revolutionary Mexican Newspapers, the third Open Access collection of titles digitized under the Global Press Archive (GPA) CRL Charter Alliance. This collection adds to the growing collection of Open Access material available through East View's Global Press Archive program.

The Latin American Materials Project (LAMP) has digitized two nineteenth century newspapers from Arequipa, Peru.  The newspapers are el Republicano (1825-1855) and la Bolsa (1884-1910).

The South Asia Materials Project (SAMP) and South Asia Open Archives (SAOA) have collaborated to make freely available ninety-seven issues of the Madras Legislative Assembly Debates (from 1938 to 1958).

The murder of George Floyd and the resulting protests have had a global influence, which has strengthened the Black Lives Matter Movement and resulted in a renewed call to action. As a global organization that prides itself on the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion, CRL is dedicated to helping the stories of marginalized people be told and their voices be heard, while supporting the ideals of the Black Lives Matter movement. The impact of the recent uprisings have been profoundly felt, first-hand, within the CRL community. We feel compelled to share these experiences as a means to shine a light on the systemic and social racism that continues to permeate our society. We are heartened by the outpouring of support for these ideals by our member libraries and instituions and we offer our support for their public statements. We are CRL and we stand with you. The MacArthur Foundation awards grants to CRL and institutional partners in Mexico to provide support for a multistage initiative to promote the ability of memory institutions and other actors to secure and preserve documentation vital to civil society in Mexico.

Twenty-two MARC records are now available for the Late Qing and Republican-era Chinese newspapers, the first Open Access module from the Global Press Archive collection.

The CRL Charter Alliance will deliver a substantial body of digital news content to users worldwide while three in-copyright collections negotiated by East View Information Services will  be made available to all CRL member institutions. 

CRL has named three award recipients in its annual Primary Sources Awards (PSA) competition. The awards promote awareness of the creative use of materials in the major areas collected by CRL: newspapers, archives, government documents, and journals.

CRL welcomed a record-breaking 360 registrants to its virtually held 2020 Annual Meeting, Context and Community: The Center for Research Libraries at 70, April 23-24. The first segment of the meeting focused on governance, followed by timely yet essential conversations on topics of leadership in moments of crisis.

CRL negotiates extraordinary access to archival and special collections content from Gale Primary Sources to assist students, faculty, and staff at CRL member institutions working remotely in response to COVID-19. CRL members have unlimited access to a number of archives and customized webinars in Gale Primary Sources from now until June 30, 2020.

CRL has arranged for its members to gain access to EBSCO collections for the remainder of the academic year.

CRL has reduced access barriers to nearly 10,000 titles previously digitized (in whole or in part) through on-demand and strategic scanning.

CRL has numerous online resources available to researchers and scholars working remotely.
