GUIDE: American culture, 1493-1875 : an index to the Bibliography of American culture, 1493-1875, and the microfilm collection. B-24935 The set includes approximately 5,600 works published before 1876, and important for an understanding of American culture. Most of the titles are in English and were written and published in the United States. Selected and compiled in the mid-1950s by the Committee on Microfilm Bibliography of the American Studies Association (edited by David R. Weimer), the series includes information on American education, religion, pacifism, feminism, the city, the history of science, and many other subjects of importance to American historiography. The set includes two series: Series I, 1493-1806; and Series II, which expanded the pre-1806 holdings and extended the collection to 1875. The Center has purchased analytics for all titles in Series I and II; these records appear in CRLCATALOG.

GUIDE: Thompson, Ralph. American literary annuals and gift books, 1825-1865. Z6520.G4T5 This set includes 469 souvenir volumes. The titles are important for the book design and decoration techniques employed by publishers and for their sentimental content representing a prevailing national perception of antebellum and Civil War era America. In addition, the gift books included the works of then-unknown and often lastingly obscure authors as well as minor works by Hawthorne, Poe, Stowe and Emerson. All the titles in this set have been analyzed, and records appear in the Center's catalog.

GUIDE: Dime novels : escape fiction of the nineteenth century : guide to the microfilm collection. D-14742 This is a microfilm set of over 3,000 novels published by Beadle and Adams. The Center has purchased analytics for all titles in Units 1-7; these records appear in CRLCATALOG.

Northwestern University transferred to the Center its collection (approximately 5,000 volumes in original format) of English and American fiction of the later 19th and early 20th centuries. These are lesser-known works by important authors or works by minor writers. The Center is cataloging these titles, and eventually records for all will be in the Center's catalog.

This is a microcard set of 848 titles published in the 18th and 19th centuries. The works include histories, biographies, criticism, fiction, etc. All titles are cataloged separately in the Center's card catalog. This set continued beyond Series one [16]; however, the Center cancelled its subscription after the completion of Series one because the project heavily duplicated materials in other collections.

GUIDE: A Guide to the Early British periodicals collection on microfilm with title, subject, editor and reel number indexes. Z6956.G6U54 This set reproduces journals, magazines and other periodicals about politics, economics, philosophy, literature, and the social sciences in Great Britain from 1681-1921. All the titles have been cataloged separately in CRLCATALOG.

GUIDE: Boyle, Andrew. An index to the annuals. B-30002 This is a microfiche set of the titles listed in Boyle. All the titles have been analyzed, and records appear in the Center's catalog.

The Center acquired only part 1 of this set. Part 1 includes 117 titles, including almost all the rare folk novels. Individual titles are also cataloged separately.

GUIDE: Reference Folder #65 This is a microfilm edition based on Svodnyi Katalog Russkoi Knigi Grazhdanskoi Pechati XVIII Veka 1725-1800. The Center does not subscribe to this continuing project, but holds reels 1-322, which were deposited by a member library.

GUIDE: Binger, Norman. A bibliography of German plays on microcards. Z1033.M6B61 [This guide includes plays issued in the 1961-1968 groups.] This is a continuing project including plays published from the 16th to the early 20th centuries. Opera libretti and translations of plays written in languages other than German also are included. From 1961 through 1985, the set was produced in microcard format; from 1986 to date, it is in microfiche. The Center receives additional titles in this set periodically. At its completion, the set will include 12,000-15,000 titles. All titles will be included in the Center's catalog.

GUIDE: Reference Folder #147. This facsimile reprint set includes 151 texts of various writings published from 1788-1830, concerning Voltaire. The titles included are very rare and include both defamatory and laudatory items.

This reprint set consists of modern Korean poetry from 1921 to 1963.

This is a reprint collection of Korean language and literature sources. All titles in the set have been analyzed, and records appear in the CRL's catalog.

GUIDE: Short-title catalogue of books printed in France and of French books printed in other countries now in the British Museum. This microfilm set is based on the British Library’s bibliography.  

This microfiche collection eventually will include over 14,000 plays from the 17th-19th centuries, including standard editions in complete sets and textually significant editions, school texts, stage adaptations, translations, and poems and prose intended for dramatic presentation. The set is based on the following bibliography: Brenner, Clarence D. A Bibliographical list of plays in the French language, 1700-1789. The following work lists titles included in the 1957-1965 annual shipments: Thompson, Lawrence S. A bibliography of French plays on microcards.

GUIDE: Short-title catalogue of books printed in Italy and of Italian books printed in other countries from 1465-1600, now in the British Museum. Z2342.B7 This set reproduces 15th and 16th century books in all subject areas. The initial selection for the microfilm set is based on the Short-title catalogue, but titles from other collections also will be included. This is a continuing project, with additional reels received periodically. There are over 400 individual titles in CRLCATALOG.

This microfilm set reproduces Italian comedy and tragedy, marionette plays, opera libretti, pageants, and radio and cinema scripts from the Middle Ages to the 20th century. The Center received 262 reels of this set; the project has been suspended. Most of the titles have been cataloged with over 2,900 entries in CRLCATALOG.
