In June, 2009, ProQuest launched American Periodicals from the Center for Research Libraries (APCRL), which ultimately will contain nearly three million pages of CRL journal content with full-color scans and searchable text. This digitized collection of historic periodicals from CRL, developed in collaboration with ProQuest, will contain American special interest and general magazines, labor and trade publications, scientific and literary journals, and photographic periodicals, as well as other historically significant titles spanning the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
Providing electronic access will help protect the deteriorating originals from harm or loss. Very little of the content overlaps with titles available elsewhere online. CRL has posted a full selection list.
Titles currently available online include:
- American Annual of Photography
- American Artisan
- Atlanta Medical and Surgical Journal
- The Book Buyer
- Flower Garden
- Photo Era
CRL libraries will receive a purchase discount from ProQuest. To request free trial access, please contact ProQuest . For those electing not to acquire APCRL, all of the journals digitized will be available through CRL, on a volume-by-volume basis in digital form to fulfill interlibrary loan requests.
For any questions, or suggestions of additional titles for inclusion, please contact aps@crl.edu.
