Summary
The Center for Research Libraries (CRL) seeks a Program Manager, Board and Committee Relations. This is an important position at CRL, offering an ambitious, creative, and entrepreneurial professional the chance to have a high-impact role in the organization and gain experience in association governance. Under the supervision of the CRL President, the Program Manager coordinates the governance activities of the CRL Board of Directors and other CRL standing committees, to ensure that CRL operates in alignment with its governance structure and by-laws.
Based in Chicago, IL, the Center for Research Libraries is an international consortium of university, college, and independent research libraries and an enduring model for cooperative collection development and community building among the research library community. From its original founding in 1949 by ten member libraries in the Midwestern United States, today CRL represents an international consortium of university, college, and independent research libraries collectively building, stewarding, and sharing a wealth of resource materials from all world regions to support inspired research and teaching.

Responsibilities
- Attends meetings of the CRL Board of Directors and other standing committees; takes notes and prepares minutes; and maintains governance records, including members’ service records
- Coordinates and oversees issues that require regular Board and CRL committee action, such as annual conflict of interest statements, Board ethics policy, and changes to CRL Bylaws
- Oversees the centralization and maintenance of Board and committee materials, and maintains all official records including by-laws, approved resolutions, and minutes in a secure repository
- Prepares governance-related Web materials and maintains or updates all relevant Web pages
- Serves as the staff liaison to the CRL Board of Directors Governance Task Force
- Performs other duties as assigned by the CRL President
Qualifications/Education and experience
- A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
- Experience and/or working familiarity with board management and association governance
- Experience with parliamentary procedures (e.g., Robert’s Rules of Order, Democratic Rules of Order)
- Demonstrated organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and active listening, empathic, and communication skills
- Ability to interact effectively with a variety of functions and people, and to work well as part of a team to achieve tasks
Compensation and benefits
This is a full-time, permanent position with an expected starting salary of $65,000-$70,000. CRL offers competitive benefits including health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, and flexible PTO including vacation, sick, personal time, 2 floating and 12 paid holidays per year. In addition, CRL offers generous retirement benefits with a monthly 10% contribution after a year of employment (immediately vested). Employees will receive funding for professional development activities. Flexible and remote work options possible with management approval.
