The South Asia Microform Project (SAMP) has made available on microfilm and in electronic format a nearly comprehensive set of the epic Dastan-i Amir Hamzah, published by Newal Kishore Press.
The epic story of Dastan-i Amir Hamzah features Amīr Hamzā, the uncle of the prophet Mohammed. The tales evolved from centuries of oral recitation, gradually assuming a more fixed form in the 18th century. The Newal Kishore Press edition represents one of the most complete Urdu adaptations of the epic, encompassing more than 46 volumes published over the course of 25 years.
SAMP’s Dastan-i Amir Hamzah microfilm version is contained on 43 reels, while the Dastan-i Amir Hamzah on DVD contains PDF versions of page images scanned from the microfilm edition. Digitization of the collection was supported by the American Institute of Pakistan Studies (AIPS).
