LAMP (the Latin American Materials Project) supported the digitization of several newspapers and sets of archival material compiled by Memorias de la Patagonia Austral, a project of Universidad Nacional de la Patagonia Austral, Bibliotecas y Archivos.
This content was previously unavailable to researchers unless they travelled to southern Argentina to conduct their research at the Universidad Nacional de la Patagonia Austral. With LAMP's funding support, the material was digitized and is now available through the Center for Research Libraries.
Two archival collections contain material from the early 20th century, and are openly accessible:
Documentos históricos de la huelga de la Patagonia, 1911-1922
Archival material compiled by Memorias de la Patagonia Austral, a project of Universidad Nacional de la Patagonia Austral, Bibliotecas y Archivos, regarding strikes in Argentine Patagonia, 1911-1922, primarily focused on railway worker strikes in the province of Santa Cruz, including Puerto Deseado. This archival material includes railroad related documents originating from Ferrocarril de Puerto Deseado al Lago Nahuel-Huapi and other documents supplied by Archivo Histórico Palmiro Pedemonte.
Fundación de Gobernador Gregores; fondo gobernación 1901-1935
Archival material compiled by Memorias de la Patagonia Austral, a project of Universidad Nacional de la Patagonia Austral, Bibliotecas y Archivos, regarding the formation and history of the town of Gobernador Gregores, Argentina, 1901-1935.
Three mid-twentieth century newspapers were also digitized as part of this project. Due to their dates of publication, they are currently accessible by CRL and LAMP members only. The titles include:
- La Argentina Austral (1942-1965)
- El Sonido (1951-1962)
- La Verdad (1929)
