The Technical Report Archive & Image Library (TRAIL) welcomes Virginia Tech as its 50th institutional member. Virginia Tech is the newest addition to a list of members that range alphabetically from the University of Arizona to the Government Publishing Office (U.S.) to Yale.
TRAIL’s mission is to identify, acquire, catalog, digitize, and provide unrestricted access to U.S. government agency technical reports. TRAIL, one of the Global Resources Programs operating under the Center for Research Libraries umbrella, works collaboratively with institutions and other organizations committed to increasing access to science and technology literature across many disciplines. TRAIL was formed to meet the access challenges associated with technical reports, and over the past twelve years nearly 70,000 reports have been digitized and made openly available on the TRAIL Search Interface, with more processed daily. TRAIL is grateful for the support of its members, who recognize that it takes a national grassroots effort to ensure that the published results of taxpayer-funded research are made openly available.
