The Middle East Materials Project (MEMP) recently acquired and cataloged microfilm of issues of the newspaper al-Quds al-Arabi for May 2010-December 2013. These years complement MEMP’s existing holdings of this independent pan-Arab daily newspaper published in London, holdings which extend from April 1989 through April 2010.
Al-Quds al-Arabi is owned by Palestinian expatriates and its long-time Editor-in-Chief was Abdel Bari Atwan, who served in that role from the founding of the newspaper in 1989 through July 2013. Al-Quds al-Arabi’s motto is “Daily, Political, Independent” and the paper has strongly defended the Palestinian cause against Israel, especially as compared to the stance of other well-known pan-Arab diaspora daily newspapers, some of which are owned by the Saudi royal family.
The holdings for this preservation project were provided by Yale University.
