SEEMP (Slavic and East European Materials Project) has acquired microfilm of the Russian journal Krokodil for the years 1923–44.
The important Russian satirical journal began publication in 1922 and ceased in 2000. Its sporadic release usually involved around forty issues per year. North American libraries holding this title have major gaps for the first 21 years of the run, so this acquisition has produced the most comprehensive coverage of Krokodil for the years 1923–44.
The years covered by these issues of Krokodil included the death of Lenin, the end of the New Economic Policy, the rise of Stalin, and most of World War II.
