The Middle East Materials Project (MEMP) has microfilmed several years of the Kurdish newspaper Aso.

The Cooperative Africana Materials Project (CAMP) has microfilmed issues of seven Liberian newspaper titles from the holdings of Michigan State University.

In recent years, CRL’s Area Studies Microform Projects supported the preservation of more than 300 newspaper titles collected by the Library of Congress overseas offices, ensuring scholarly access to more than 450,000 pages of news from Africa, the Middle East, and South Asia.   

SEEMP has preserved the 1971–88 issues of the Zagreb edition of Borba.

LAMP (formerly the Latin American Microform Project) has microfilmed seven Bolivian newspapers from the late 19th century.

The Slavic and East European Microform Project (SEEMP) has acquired the complete run of the Polish newspaper Ilustrowany Kuryer Codzienny.

The Middle East Microform Project (MEMP) has microfilmed two years of the newspaper Iraq Times, filling a gap in CRL’s collections, so that CRL now holds Iraq Times from January 1948 to May 1964.

The Cooperative Africana Materials Project (CAMP) has preserved several Liberian newspapers published since 2000. These newspapers represent the viewpoints of various factions during Liberia’s civil war and its aftermath.

The Middle East Microform Project (MEMP) recently microfilmed the July–December 2011 issues of the Egyptian newspaper al-Tahrir, named after the recent uprising in Tahrir Square. MEMP recently approved funding for the microfilming of all 2012 issues as well.

New content added to Latin American, South Asian modules.

In a recent message to CRL library directors, Bernie Reilly reported that CRL has begun to explore providing “end-to end” coverage of news content to researchers at CRL libraries. The recent CRL offers of several key news databases from Readex are a step in that direction: they provide favorable terms for access to a range of historic and current news content.
