CRL supports research and teaching through digitization of timely, critical primary resources for scholars at CRL member institutions. 

The South Asia Open Archives (SAOA), administered by the Center for Research Libraries (CRL), has recently begun digitizing the Indian Newspaper Reports containing weekly translations and summaries of local Anglo-Indian and vernacular-language newspapers from the late nineteenth through the early twentieth century, from throughout South Asia.

LAMP recently microfilmed the contemporary Mexican newspaper El Diario de Juárez for the years 2008-2010.

The Center for Research Libraries will purchase seven valuable microform collections through this year’s Purchase Proposal Program, with a list price value of $192,215. These sets will soon be available through interlibrary loan from CRL.

Three major publishers of news databases have begun to provide detailed metadata to the International Coalition on Newspapers (ICON) database.

CRL recently digitized an extensive run of The Daily Drovers Journal, founded in 1873 to report on the Chicago Stockyards. This complements the primary sources preserved through Project Ceres, opening further possibilities for researching the connections between agriculture and economic and political history.

SEAM (Southeast Asia Materials Project) has microfilmed the years 1992–2005 of the Indonesian newspaper Harian Sore Garuda.

The Cooperative Africana Materials Project (CAMP) recently preserved several newspapers from Somalia and Somaliland collected by the Library of Congress Field Office in Nairobi. Issues of the twenty titles span the years 1998 to 2012.
