January 16, 2014The Center for Research Libraries recently received funding to support international analysis and planning for archiving and strategic digitization of print journals and newspapers. CRL will use these funds to expand its collecting and analysis of data on archiving and digitization efforts in the two domains, and promote coordinated, strategic action in these areas by libraries and consortia.

March 7, 2013In September 2012, the Government Printing Office engaged CRL to undertake an audit of FDsys, the GPO’s digital repository for U.S. federal government publications. In December, the GPO terminated its contract with CRL for the audit because of the federal budgetary constraints connected with the “fiscal cliff” and subsequent sequestration.

The recent CRL offers of several key news databases from Readex are a step in that direction: they provide favorable terms for access to a range of historic and current news content.
