CIFNAL, the Collaborative Initiative for French Language Collections, proudly announces the names of the two librarians who have been awarded stipends of $1,000 each to attend the 2011 AIFBD (Association internationale francophone des bibliothécaires et documentalistes) Conference August 9–12, 2011 in Martinique.
The stipend is awarded to defray costs of registration and travel for the conference, where the recipients will represent CIFNAL at meetings, report on CIFNAL activities, and network with colleagues to support and strengthen the development of CIFNAL. After the conference, the recipients will report on their activities at AIFBD to the membership of CIFNAL. As required by the guidelines of the stipend, both recipients are librarians at CIFNAL institutional members:
- Matthew Loving is the Romance Languages Librarian at the University of Florida. He currently serves as the French Language Coordinator for CIFNAL’s participation in the Digital Library of the Caribbean and is also CIFNAL’s project coordinator for the French Pamphlet Project.
- Emilie Songolo is the Bibliographer for Francophone Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She specializes in resources relating to the French-speaking regions of the world outside of Western Europe and has participated in developing partnerships between the University of Wisconsin and libraries in the Caribbean.
