From 2008-13, CRL offered the Scholars’ Access Program on a pilot basis. Unlike other CRL collection programs, the Scholars’ Access Program provided access to material that was not necessarily added to CRL’s physical collection. Examples of projects supported include:
- limited-term access to commercial databases
- special purchase or arranged access to hard-copy materials not held by CRL
- digitization of research material held by other member institutions
The Scholar’s Access Program sought to test new models of access to electronic and physical collections for individual scholars at CRL member institutions. The program supported more than 40 requests, resulting in the acquisition of nearly 20 titles/collections for CRL. The program was discontinued for FY 2014 in favor of supporting ongoing digitization and electronic access initiatives at CRL.
