This is an analytical inventory compiled from transcripts of volumes 1–126 of Series C11A (Fonds des Colonies. Correspondance générale; Canada).
The original C11A series (held by Library and Archives Canada [LAC]) contains correspondence from Canada received by the Secretary of State (secrétaire d'État de la Marine et des Colonies): letters, reports, and petitions addressed to the Minister (or king) by the governors general, civil and military officers, traders, and other individuals; copies of letters exchanged between people of the colony; copies of correspondence with authorities in other colonies (English or French); and more. Series C11A has 126 volumes, about 100,000 pages of documents, generally organized by year and type of documentation, from 1540 to 1784.
Library and Archives Canada holds microfilm of both the original material contained in the series (shelfmark F-1 to F-128) as well as transcripts (C-2374-C-2412). A substantial portion of the original have also been digitized by LAC (access through Archivianet).
