The first of its kind, the retroactive open access pilot agreement opens tens of thousands of articles authored by leading researchers at NERL institutions.

The Center for Research Libraries (CRL) has aligned with leading organizations committed to realizing an open scholarly information environment by signing OA2020’s Expression of Interest. With this declaration, CRL stands with its member signatories and libraries across the globe to call on all parties involved in scholarly publishing to “collaborate on a swift and efficient transition for the benefit of scholarship and society at large.”

As a research Library, CRL shares its members’ strong interest in access to contemporary news content to support research and teaching without geographic or linguistic limits.

CRL negotiates extraordinary access to archival and special collections content from Gale Primary Sources to assist students, faculty, and staff at CRL member institutions working remotely in response to COVID-19. CRL members have unlimited access to a number of archives and customized webinars in Gale Primary Sources from now until June 30, 2020.

CRL has arranged for its members to gain access to EBSCO collections for the remainder of the academic year.

Late Qing and Republican-Era Chinese Newspapers has been released as the first Open Access collection coming out of the Global Press Archive (GPA) CRL Charter Alliance, a multi-year, flagship collaboration between CRL and East View Information Services. The collection, ultimately comprising 500,000 pages from hundreds of titles published in China between 1912 and 1949, is hosted on East View’s GPA platform.

As of January, 2018, CRL voting member libraries have access to the new online review ccAdvisor, a collaboration between Choice and the Charleston Company.

CRL voting member libraries have approved CRL acquisition of six valuable microform collections through the 2016 Purchase Proposal Program, with a list price value of $138,643. The collections will be available through interlibrary loan from CRL.

CRL and the NorthEast Research Libraries Consortium (NERL) have agreed to renew their partnership, first formed in 2013 when the NERL program moved from Yale University Libraries to CRL.

The newly revised LIBLICENSE Model License Agreement incorporates best practices of the library profession and the best advice of legal and publishing professionals in negotiating licensing agreements.

With support from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, a vigorous overhaul of the LIBLICENSE model license is in progress under the auspices of the Center for Research Libraries.

CRL’s eDesiderata platform, designed to provide information about and track the status of e-resources under consideration for member licensing, has a new customizing feature: meDesiderata.

CRL now has a new platform for tracking the status of e-resources under consideration for member licensing. eDesiderata offers a place for sharing information and opinions about e-resources, including content, quality, and terms of purchase or subscription.

CRL announces the appointment of Christine Stamison as the new director of NERL. Stamison will be responsible for meeting the ambitious goals and objectives of the NERL Program at the Center for Research Libraries.
