Event Logistics
The 2021 CRL Annual Council of Voting Members Meeting will be a virtual one-day event. In addition to regular CRL business, Professor Michael Strevens of NYU will deliver a keynote address on his widely reviewed book, The Knowledge Machine (2020) and discuss the implications of his work for research libraries. CRL will continue the theme of knowledge creation in our programming leading up to the 2022 CRL Annual Meeting, "Diversity as Knowledge," a three-day conference to be held in Chicago, Wednesday, April 20, through Friday, April 22, 2022. The CRL Diversity as Knowledge Conference will explore ways that foregrounding diversity in research libraries empowers and enriches the production of knowledge.

- Michael Strevens, Professor of Philosophy, New York University. Michael Strevens writes about science, understanding, complexity, and the nature of thought, and teaches philosophy at New York University. His most recent book, The Knowledge Machine (Liveright, 2020), sets out to explain how science works so well and why it took so long to get it right.
