The Cooperative African Microform Project has recently microfilmed the serials Siggi and Taxaw, which were published by the Senegalese intellectual and activist Cheikh Anta Diop. He was associated with a left-leaning political opposition group that was not legally recognized by the Senegalese government at the time these irregularly published serials were distributed. The titles helped Diop’s nationalist ideology reach a broader audience.
Siggi only published two issues (January and February 1977) before it merged into Taxaw. The titles were primarily in French, but also contain some Wolof (the most widely spoken language in Senegal).
