The Center for Research Libraries will purchase eight valuable microform and reprint collections through this year’s Purchase Proposal Program, with a list price value of $125,886. These sets will soon be available through interlibrary loan from CRL.

Many major microform and reprint sets and collections can be too costly for individual institutions, and are not readily available through interlibrary loan. Through the CRL Purchase Proposal Program, libraries nominate microform and hard copy collections for CRL purchase. Participation in this cooperative purchase program is one of the benefits of a CRL membership.

CRL members nominated and voted for the following sets in the 2014 program:

  • Der Artist (1898–1902; 1904–71)
130 reels; $20,250. Bludeau Partners International
Der Artist was a trade magazine for popular entertainers, singers, circus acts, early film exhibitors, musical acts, comedians, etc. Published in Dussledorf, beginning in 1883, it continued publication until 1995.
